Well, if there was even the slightest notion in 2020 that things couldn’t possibly get any worse, 2021 stepped in to try. None of us could ever have guessed that the pandemic would still be trudging along over 18 months later, but here we are. So many people are still faced with so many hardships that it can be difficult to see light at the end of the tunnel. The amazing news though is that it doesn’t take much to make a huge difference in someone else’s life – especially in times like this where it can be so desperately needed.
Here are a few simple ways to help. It’s easier than you think!Continue reading “Simple Ways to Give Back This Year: 2021 Edition”
I absolutely LOVE this time of year. There is no time like Fall! My son and I have been having a great time at the local fall festival, picking out pumpkins, and watching all of our favorite halloween movies. Now, I do enjoy watching thrillers during the month of October (without little man – gotta protect those little eyes), but I also have a pretty good arsenal of family-friendly movies that my son and I both enjoy and watch together every year to welcome the fall season. I am so fond of this tradition. It’s a great opportunity for us to spend quality time together. We make some homemade popcorn or bake cookies or making smores. Then, we settle into a cozy spot in the living room to watch our movies.
Here are my top 10 family-friendly movie recommendations for the month of October (whether or not you celebrate halloween 😉) :Continue reading “Favorite Halloween Movies! Family-Friendly Fall Movies”
Hi guys! You all know by now that having a healthy financial life is something that’s very important to me, but I’ve also been trying to stress the importance of mental and emotional wellbeing on my platforms as well. Those are even more important. I’ve been spending a lot of time pouring into my website and social media, but it’s been a tricky balance while also working what I call full-time plus (being a manager calls for some long days y’all). But above all else, I’m called to take care of my family. Part of how I do that is by working and paying the bills, but an even bigger part is being present. When I’ve seen things were off-balance in the past, I’d take some time away from work – the day job – but it’s been a very long time since I’ve taken extended time away from my platforms. So, with that said, it’s time for a sabbatical. I’ll be taking some time off to focus on my family and just tending to being present there. Even though I’ll still be working my day job, I’ll be taking a break from creating content to focus on the people and things most valuable to me, and I’m really excited about it. For now, I’m planning to be away for at least 4 weeks. I have a ton of resources for you to pull from on my website, so I encourage you to look back and read or re-read those posts while I’m away. I hope you all are having an amazing September so far! Bye for now. ✌🏾
Hi guys! If you’ve been following me for a little while, you know that I manage my money in categories. It’s much easier for me to plan my budget in that way. In my opinion, it gives structure and flexibility at the same time. When I initially set up my budget, I spent a lot of time setting up separate categories for spending and saving, figuring out which bill should go where, and setting caps for the overall spending allowed for each category. Today, I don’t spend a lot of time tracking each individual bill. I only need to make sure that they all still fit under that category’s spending cap, and it’s worked really well for me. Some categories are more obvious than others like ‘Tithe’ and ‘Savings’, but under my ‘Recurring Bills’ category, I have a sub-category called ‘Reserves’. Stay with me. I promise it’s not complicated. This week, I’m going to dive into what I include in my ‘Reserves’.Continue reading “Breaking Down The Reserves: Cash Flow Every Single Bill”
Hi guys! We are already upon the last few days of Summer 2021. Can you believe it?? I feel like this year has flown by, but I truly feel like I’ve experienced and learned a lot more this year than in years past. This post isn’t meant to be a recap of the year though. Instead, we’re here to talk about a few of my favorite things. I thought it’d be fun to make this a new series on my blog. At the end of every quarter, I’d like to show you what I’ve loved from that season. All, of course, will be coming from a budget-conscious perspective because is there really any other way to shop? 🙃 Amazon seems to be fairly accessible to everyone, so the main focus of this series will be my Amazon favorites, but I want to try to have some honorable mentions from other stores every season as well.
So, let’s get into this! Here are my Summer 2021 favorites!Continue reading “Summer 2021 Favorites!”
